RYAN HANRAHAN | Project Director

Ryan Hanrahan is a Mechanical Engineer with 18 years experience in the mining, ports and heavy industrial sectors. Ryan carries the industry qualifications of CPEng, NPER and IntPE in Engineering and Management disciplines, as well as being a member of the Australian Institute of Directors holding GAICD status.

Ryan’s key expertise is in project strategy and governance, currently providing advice to numerous private ASX listed explorers and developers on project development strategies, offtake arrangements, funding strategies, feasibility study delivery and execution delivery. In particular, Ryan has become a recognised industry specialist in industrial minerals, specifically in minerals consumed in the rechargeable battery sector.


In the technical metals space, in recent years Ryan has lead numerous studies and detailed designs for hydrometallurgical plants for Lithium Carbonate / Lithium Hydroxide, internal peer review of PFS for Gabanintha Vanadium, early stage assessment of a graphite / vanadium project in Tanzania, executed concept PFS studies for purified spherical graphite and is currently leading a strategic proposal for cobalt production in central QLD.


During his career Ryan has directly influenced at a senior / lead level studies for circa $2B of development capital and circa $500M of executed projects in the medium sized projects arena. Relevant Far North Queensland geographic experience includes the feasibility and development of a greenfields bauxite project ~100km North of Weipa and the feasibility, and detailed design and execution of the lead / zinc filter plant and XYZ concentrator plants at Mt Isa.


Other major project experience in QLD generally includes the Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (where Ryan acted in a role on the Board Sub Committee for the $2.4B greenfields port development in

Gladstone), peer review of $4BN South Galilee Coal Project in the Galilee Basin QLD, and owner’s engineer for ~A$350M of capital projects at the Curragh minesite in central QLD.


Ryan brings together experience from both ends of the spectrum of mining companies, spanning the likes of Wesfarmers and BHP through to small cap exploration companies. This experience is invaluable in achieving the right balance of risk and investment during the appraisal and development phases of a mining project.


Ryan is the Project Director for studies, engineering and execution for the St Elmo Vanadium Project.
